Frames done in 3 days

Came to check the block today to see if the frames had come and to our suprise the frames were up and almost complete. The ground floor was done in day one, second floor completed in day two and this is day three....unbelieveable...at this rate we'll be moving in by Easter??? can't wait to see the bricks now; so I guess the window frames and roof will be next. I asked how come it was so quick and apparently there are six men working on site...the house looks quite big now with the frames up.

I'm absolutely gob-smacked with the speed of the framing!!!! Hope ours is just as fast.
We chose our tiles about 6 wks ago. Not enthusiastic with the service or the selections. At no time was I offered advice or alternatives. Wasn't even told that an accessory allowance was included in the contract price until i saw the quote ! Took weeks to get the quote. Now because we've made some deletions/changes to it, it's taking time again. They are very slow. We're doing teh carpet after handover. Didn't like their selections but especially prices !

Looking at carpet this week but have accepted a quote already and it's in the contract....what's an accessory allowance - can't remember seeing that in the quote?? I found Hannah to be very efficient and helpful at Di Lorenzo. We got a quote to do the tiling to the ceiling and it was just too expensive, may have to do this ourselves later...

Its very exciting seeing the frames go up. We are almost finished building with EBH. I strongly advise creating a 'House Diary' - mainly to document rain days, what work was done and ALL conversations with EBH, especially the Site Manager.
This is to cover yourselves for later.

that's a great idea thanks so much. Did you have much problems building with EB or did everything go smoothly? do you have a blog? thanks again for the advice.

Our biggest problems were the constant delays and promises in not meeting timelines. The biggest delays occurred during bricking. After the frames went up, over the following 8 weeks we had 2 days labour and 3 days rain. We complained constantly and were given excuses. We were told that these delays would not affect the contract time, so we excepted this. Last month they said we were still on time and it would be ok to order our furniture and book the floors to be laid for handover next mth. This week they tell us they need 10 more weeks!!! (5 wks rain and 5 wks shut over Xmas). Just be prepared for this.

Sorry Hermyleen, missed your question. That's a sum included in the builder's allowance for wet area accessories, not provided by EB. For example, we opted for fancy drains, so had to pay a little extra for these b/c they weren't standard. PM me & I can be a little more specific.

Love looking at house blogs. There are lots of Eden Brae ones. Unfortunately a number of them say the service they got wasn't great.... I guess that's what happens when you use all different trademen... one EB house could have great workers, and the next not. We looked at Eden Brae and LOVED their designs, we just didn't like the disinterest of the sales folks - even after we'd visited the Kellyville house 4 or 5 times and asked really leading questions. We thought they'd well and truely know that we were interested. When we asked a question we got one or two word answers. Nobody ever asked us to sit down and chat about what we liked or what our budget was.

I can't wait to see all the internal fittings... love looking at stuff like that. We are now just 3 weeks away from handover and the inside looks fabulous... of course I would say that as it is my house! Can't wait to see yours.. looks great so far.

I loved the DiLorenzo mosaic tiles... but at about $700 per square meter, we saw something we liked just as much and it was only $50 a sm! Never happens that way... normally everything one likes is always too expensive! We then spent the "savings" elsewhere.

I just love those mosaic tiles, they seemed to go perfectly with the 'Ice Snow' benchtops we selected. As there weren't too much splashback area it wasn't really that expensive - I think it cost the same as getting a glass splashback.
